Brixton Book Group Festive Curry
It is the time of year when we can’t be bothered to read anything so we just drink and eat curry instead. The Christmas party will be on Thurs 20th December.
We will meet in Effra Social as usual for a drink, anytime from 6.30ish, then head over to Khans for a curry at 8pm. If possible please RSVP so we have some idea of numbers for the booking. Khans is BYO and CASH ONLY so be prepared (there is an off licence next door and a cash point over at Sainsburys I think). There is a high chance we will head back to Effra Social for further drinks afterwards.
There is also a strong possibility that Father Christmas will turn up at some point to facilitate the Book Secret Santa. If you want to take part bring a wrapped up book (can be new or second hand, anything you think other members of the group might enjoy).
Oh and we might award the ‘best book of the year’ title to something we read in 2018. There will probably be a poll. I can’t quite recall how it works but I’m sure it’s very democratic.
(If you’re just here for the books, next meeting is 24th Jan and we’ll be discussing The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber and bonus novella A Month in the Country by J L Carr, we’ll set up a proper event for that soon)
