Good stuff Rob. The entry is great for cross-referencing the characters across the different books.
Though being somewhat of a pedant I can’t agree with the assertion that he is a ‘generation X’ author as Coupland didn’t write ‘generation X’ till ’91 and besides Brett’s characters stay in fancy hotels and drive porshe’s hardly gen x behaviour..
Have also just remembered I wanted to talk about the passage where paul’s mother invites him up to stay in a fancy hotel in Boston to tell him she is divorcing his father. Chilling..
‘Flat affect’ and a glossy, empty style. That sums it up pretty neatly.
