Brooklyn
It was standing room only until we stole some extra chairs from the main bar. Interior Chinatown got a mixed but mostly positive reception and while some of us found it a little confusing the experimental format generally went down well.
The next book is Brooklyn by Colm Toibin and we’re meeting on 1st June so there is no time to waste, though it is relatively short and quick to read.

Other pitches were:
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevon
The Yiddish Policeman’s Union – Michael Chabon
Crying in H Mart – Michelle Zauner
The Siege of Loyalty House – Jessie Childs
The Foghorn’s Lament – Jennifer Lucy Allen
Dune – Frank Herbert
Interview with the Vampire – Anne Rice
Fleishman is in Trouble – Taffy Brodesser-Akner
Walk me to the Corner – Anneli Furmark
The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown (I fear in its 20th anniversary year this may not be the last we’ve heard of this one)
We meet from about 7.30 to stake a claim on the room, and usually start book discussion at 8.00. We will hopefully be in the Churchill Room at the front of Effra Social but do check back for any updates as occasionally we have to move the location or date.
