Christmas and new year read
We had a very lively group (one of the biggest turn outs ever!) to discuss what we would do in the event of an apocalypse and also Station 11. Pete discovered that almost all of the people who can knit are also ‘handy with a shotgun’. For the record, the default Brixton Book Group plan in the event of a viral pandemic wiping out most of humanity is to meet in the Efra, drink the bar dry and then work out what to do next.

Station 11, with islands.
Book for next time is His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman of which many editions are available. We will discuss this book at our next ordinary meeting which will be on the 14th of January 2016 in the Efra Social as usual.
Runners up included: The Picture of Dorian Gray, On the Road
, On The Map: Why the world looks the way it does
, My Brilliant Friend
, Spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Human Pandemic
and The Story of Lucy Gault
.
The Brixton Book Group Christmas party (bring a book secret santa, pub and a Khan’s curry) will be on the 15th of December – meeting in The Effra Social. More details (including the Brixton Book Group award winning book of the year award voting mechanism) will be announced shortly.
