Homegoing
We more or less took over the Effra Social main room for a meeting about Autumn by Ali Smith – note that we’re going to move to a regular time slot to avoid a clash royale with the Riff Raff authors group and the Brixton Cinema club.
I think most people enjoyed Autumn, and hopefully when I read it 20 years later I’ll wonder what all the fuss was about this thing called ‘Brexit’ as I throw another book on the fire to keep warm in the shattered post-apocalyptic remains of our once great nation.

This looked a lot more autumnal in the pub.
Book for next time is Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi – runners up included Days without End by Sebastian Barry, The Lesser Bohemians by Elmer McBride, Birds of America by Lorie Moore, Ghosts of the Tsunami by Richard Parry., Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, Dracula by Bram Stoker, Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and South of the Border West of the Sun by Harukai Murakami.
Next meeting is the 16th of November in the Effra Social from 7.33pm – all welcome.
