If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things
A busy meeting to discuss the disturbing world of Boy Parts. We managed to keep it as a group discussion for a little longer this time covering various topics from violence and gender to art and Lord of the Rings. Despite it being a fairly grim and lurid book most people found something worthwhile about it.

The next book is If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor and we’ll be meeting on October 12th. We start talking about the book from 8.00, so try and get there in time to grab a chair and drink before that, it sometimes takes a bit of shuffling around to fit everyone in. We should be back at Effra Social (Churchill Room), but check back nearer the time just in case we have to change venue or date for some reason (this occasionally happens when they are closed or booked out)
Other pitches were:
American Psycho – Brett Easton Ellis
A Natural History of Ghosts – Roger Clarke
Green Island – Shawna Yang Ryan
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevin
Half of a Yellow Sun – Chimanada Ngozi Adichie
The Man With Compound Eyes – Wu Ming Yi
The Virgin Suicides – Jeffrey Eugenides
Piranesi – Susanna Clarke
Empire of Pain – Patrick Radan Keefe
