I know why the caged bird sings
We enjoyed the sunshine and chatted about the magical realism that was One Hundred Years of Solitude. Perhaps reading it in the hazy days of the 1970s might have helped.

It’s a jungle. or a swamp.
The book for next time (continuing the theme of recently departed writers) is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.
Runners up included In Cold Blood, A Death in the Family, The Quarry and The Year of Reading Dangerously.
Our next meeting will be on the 3rd of July in (or outside if it’s nice) the Effra Social. From 7.30 or earlier if it’s sunny.
Great choice. I love Maya Angelou, will look forward to reading this one
