Last meeting: Cock and Bull
Last meeting we had a nice chat about Slaughterhouse 5, amongst the footballers at the Duke of Edinburgh.
This week’s book is: Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story by Laurence Sterne (available online here)
and we will be meeting in The Doghouse, on the 15th of February.
The runners up were:
Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy by John Le Carré
The Time Traveller’s Wife by Richard and Judy
Patern Recognition by William Gibson
A Void by Georges Perec
Hmm. Have come to the very quick conclusion that the best thing about “The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, A gentlman” is the title.
Also think there was a bit of confusion about my comments about TS at the last book group meeting. What I actually said was “I suggest we don’t read Tristram Shandy next time. Despite having a great title it is a huge book and completely imprehensible.”

I’ve managed to read the first volume… But that was becuase I got stuck on the Underground and it was the only thing I had with me to read. Still, the introduction almost had me convinced it was worth reading! Shall we all just admit defeat and go and see Cock & Bull Story at the cinema instead?
I second that – other than being handy to prop up the hamster cage with, this seems very hard going – especially when I have another much more interesting book to read!
