The Picture of Dorian Gray

Another great turnout to talk about the last days of an autocrat, having a servant to adjust your pillows and the pivotal role of documentary films in history.

Lots of unplugged phones. Would be nice to do that to a few other world leaders at the moment.

Book for next time is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and we will be meeting on Thursday 10th April in the Effra Social from 7.30ish.

Runners up included The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, Circe by Madeline Miller, Night Sky with Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, This House of Grief by Helen Garner, Main Character by Lizzie Franier and the Book of Ebenezer le Page by GB Edwards.

The Brixton Book Group Long Read:

We will finish it when we finish it

We also picked our long read – 11.22.63 by Stephen King the date of this meeting will be announced when enough people have read it (probably the end of summer)
