One Hundred Shadows
Happy new year! we had a packed book group where we chatted about nuclear winters, swingtime, gieger counters and memories. I think we managed to outnumber more or less everyone else in the Effra Social. We also recorded at least part of the meeting for the upcoming Brixton Book Group podcast (watch this space).

Swing Time in Chernobyl
I only managed a one page doodle this time..
The book for next time is One Hundred Shadows by Hwang Jungeun which is available from Hive or direct from the publisher Tilted Axis Press.
Runners up included: The Optician of Lampedusa by Emma Jane Kirby, Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, The Handmaid’s Tale by (friend of Brixton Book Group) Margaret Atwood, The Unwinding by George Packer, The Tennant of Wildfell Hall – Anne Bronté, Little Deaths by Anne Flint, The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage and So Long See You Tomorrow by William Maxwell.
Meeting date is the 2nd of February in the Effra Social from 7ish.
Thanks Pete and everyone else who made us newbies feel so welcome!! I’m so excited for the next book club already 🙂 from Lisa (who very nervously pitched Birdsong!!)
Thank you – and you can always re-pitch a book next time (sometimes perseverance pays off!)
