Brixton Book Group: November 2nd meeting

Well it was lovely to see all of you again – the book we chose was:
Last Exit to Brooklyn by Hubert Selby
“The story follows a number of tranvestites, criminals and prostitutes who live on the edge of existence but yearn for more meaning.”

The runners up were:
Norwegian Wood – Haruki Murakami
The Closed Circle – Jonathan Coe
Metroland – Julian Barnes
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter – Carson Macullers (such a beautiful title)
Being Jordan – Katie Price
My Name is Red – Orhan Pamuk

Next meeting is on Wednesday 23rd of November in the Queen

Not Just Another Book Group Christmas Party

The launch party will now DEFINATELY be on Wednesday 30th November at 7pm at the Spitz near Liverpool street.
We have decided to make it a bit fat Christmas party and launch party rolled into one! So there will be mince pies, Christmas fun, dancing, and lots of drinking! This will give you the chance to meet all the different book groups, celebrate being part of a book group and generally have fun! We hope to get the press there, and there will be a raffle – yes a raffle – wow! You will be able to find out more about the different book groups we have. Plus, if you bring a friend along and they register for NotJustAnotherBookGroup you will both get a free glass of wine. You can’t say better than that! It should be a really good night – start off the Christmas season in style!

anyone thinking of going?
