Snow Falling on Cedars
We had a big discussion about The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, about Sri Lankan history, about the Booker prize. It was a book most of us found something to like about, but which there were also reservations about.

The next book we are reading is Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson. The meeting is not until August 17th due to holiday dates etc, but this should give you plenty of time to read some other books of your choice as well… perhaps from this list of other pitches:
The Island of Missing Trees – Elif Shafak
Foundation – Isaac Asimov
Just Kids – Patti Smith
The White Hotel – D M Thomas
Bridget Jones’ Diary – Helen Fielding
The Gallows Pole – Benjamin Myers
Notes on Heartbreak – Annie Lord
The High House – Jessie Greengrass
We usually start book chat around 8pm, but come a little earlier to give yourself time to grab a drink and a chair. We are usually in the Churchill Room at the front of Effra Social, but check here nearer the time in case of any last minute changes.
