Stoner
We had a good chat about Suite Francaise and the circumstances in which it was written and published. A great and poignant book, and a terrible shame it was never finished.
Thanks to Gemma Butchart for doing a doodle in Pete’s absence.
The next book is Stoner by John Williams, and we’ve got the Churchill room booked at Effra Social again for April 10th from 7.30pm.
Runners up were:
A Naked Singularity – Sergio de la Pava
Madame Bovary – Flaubert
A Confederacy of Dunces – John Kennedy Toole
A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich – Alesandr Solzhenitsyn
The Picture of Dorian Grey – Oscar Wilde
Will be really interested to see what your group have to say about Stoner. Didn’t read this with my group but there’s lots to discuss.
