Herzog was a real love it or hate it book. Some copies ended up dumped in France after 100 pages, but others really really liked it, and had a good chat about it.

Jungle Book was also a bit mixed. (Pete liked it, but was sad he wasn’t there to talk about it)

Book for next time is:

Infidel by  Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

Runners up were:

The White Tiger– Aravind Adiga
Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes – Robert L Stevenson
Brideshead Revisited– Evelyn Waugh
Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi – Geoff Dyer
The Woman Destroyed– Simone De Beauvoir

Date of the next meeting is  Oct 14th, which is the day after Wolf Hall, now set for the 13th. Probably in Mango Landin, but the noisy bring your own record evening might mean we’re on the lookout for a new pub.

Thanks to Alison for taking notes!
