The Zookeeper’s War
Brixton Book Group absolutely CANNOT be trusted near cutlery, so instead of the Churchill Room we got to sit on the stage. It was like being some sort of late night culture show but without the audience.
Fun Home was a popular choice, with everyone enjoying the drawing and writing style. It even inspired Pete to do our doodle in the style of a graphic novella about our night.

The book for next time is The Zookeeper’s War by JW Mohnhaupt (make sure you get the right author as there is another book with the same title) which has a lovely polar bear on the cover and sounds completely marvellous.
Runners Up were:
Murmur – Will Eaves
10 Minutes 38 Seconds – Elif Shafak
Ghost Wall – Sarah Moss
Men Who Hate Women – Laura Bates
The Name of the Rose – Umberto Eco
Hothouse – Brian Aldiss
Kafka on the Shore – Haruki Murakami
We’ll be meeting back at Effra Social, perhaps in the Churchill Room, perhaps on the stage, who can say, on 21st October from around 7.30pm. See you there!
