There is a book group angle to this (I promise)
Hello everyone,
I’m possibly slightly abusing my position as book group co-co-ordinating doodle drawer (and I promise not to do this very often), but I’d like to make a quick ask for you to sponsor me in my upcoming charity walk challenge.
This July with my sisters I’m walking 100km in less than 24 hours along the Jurassic Coast to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. 100km is quite a long way, and I imagine I’ll get blisters, pass out in a field somewhere, hopefully not get too lost and make it to the finish line in the early hours of the morning.
To make things a bit fun (and here’s the promised book group link) I’d like to offer a few perks as a thank you for sponsoring me, along with the warm glow you’ll get from supporting a good cause.
£ANY AMOUNT gets a shout out on my twitter account. Stephen Fry follows me, so that must be worth something right?
£25 and I’ll pitch the book of your choice at the book group of your choosing (ideal for remote members on the list who haven’t made it to a meeting yet)
£30 gets a book group drawing style doodle of your choice.
£50 and I’ll make a proper, old fashioned black and white 10×8″ photographic print (silver halide) from a negative of your choice, or chuck in an extra tenner and i’ll throw in some film, take a photo for you or lend you an old school camera to take some photos with. You can see some examples of my work on my instagram account. I can print from black and white or colour negatives, although the latter looks quite grainy.
£65 If you’re a book shop, I won’t link to Amazon on the blog but will link to your site for the next year for every book we pick (one available)
£75 I’ll vote for your book choice at bookgroup every meeting for the next year.
To redeem your perks just comment ‘Book group’ and mention the perk you’d like or drop me a line when you make a donation http://bit.ly/jurassicchallenge – for the bookshop link / vote bribery offer contact me first to check for availability.
If everyone who’s on the email list donated a few quid I’d easily smash my fundraising target. Thank you!
Pete
PS – just a reminder that at our next meeting we’re discussing The Plot against America by Philip Roth – and we’re meeting on the 21st of June from 7.30 in the Effra Social as usual, and everyone is welcome.
