Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
We do not have an event in December – please check for the Christmas drinks event on 30th Nov then read whatever you like throughout December
This January event is our next normal book group. If you are joining for the first time as the result of a New Year Resolution or something please just read the book and turn up, we get busy in the New Year, but will always try to squeeze everyone in.

So the meeting to discuss the Da Vinci Code has been described as our best ever, despite the book being panned ‘I didn’t expect it to be this bad’, ‘Only a horrible person could have written this’ being just 2 quotes that were noted on the night. Major kudos to Pete 1 for spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME creating puzzles, cryptexes and prizes to distract from the crushingly bad prose in the book.
The next book to discuss is Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.
Other books pitched were:
Jamaica Inn – Daphne du Maurier
A Place of Greater Safety – Hilary Mantel
Ella Minnow Pea – Mark Dunn
The Dancing Face – Mike Phillips
Empire of the Sun – JG Ballard
Old Gods Time – Sebastian Barry
Empire of Pain – Patrick Radden Keefe
Titus Groan – Mervyn Peake
Babel – RF Kuang
We’ll be meeting at about 7.30 on 18th January to start discussion at 8pm. Please arrive in time to get a chair and a drink, and please check back here nearer the time in case there are any changes to venue or timing. We are usually in the Churchill Room at Effra Social.
Hope to see you at Christmas drinks, but if you can’t make that have a great Christmas and New Year and see you in Jan.
