Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead
It was delightful to see some of you in the 3 dimensional flesh in a pub! We should do this more often! Effra Social found us a perfect table for 10 outside and it was great to be back.

Augustown was a good book to discuss and interesting to hear different opinions from people at different points in the book (not everyone had finished it) as this is a book that really doesn’t settle till the very end.
The book for next time is Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead by Barbara Comyns.
Runners up were:
52 Times Britain Was a Bellend – James Felton
Hamnet – Maggie O’Farrell
The Five – Hallie Rubenhold
Twelve Bar Blues – Patrick Neate
We’ll be meeting in Effra Social again on Thurs 26th from 7.30pm – I’ve booked a table under my name in the main room, but am hoping we can move it into the Churchill Room at the front – they said last week it was due to reopen soon, so let’s see. Anyway we will be in there somewhere.
We will also discuss dates for the Summer Long Read at this – it’s likely to be sometime in September, so maybe get started if you haven’t already! (This is to discuss the Ali Smith seasonal quartet)
Update: we’ll continue to run the online group, meeting the week after the real world meeting to discuss the book – so we’ll be meeting on Zoom on the 2nd of September – zoom link here
Hi Alison I heard about your book club and keen to join one now that my time is a bit freer.and kids leaving home. I live in sw London and want a new interest but totally understand if you have enough members.
Many thanks
Claire
