You could do something terrible with your life [You are the President of the United States]
We had a long long dicussion about toxic masculinity, Gazza on a bike, cross-dressing, the patriarchy and probably a lot of other things as well as we discussed the excellent double bill of The Descent of Man and that book about Raoul Moat.

With apologies to Alan Measles.
Book for next time is the Plot against America by Philip Roth, a fictional account of when a populist right wing president is elected – and we’re meeting on the 21st of June from 7.30 in the Effra Social as usual.
Runners up included Waterland, Swearing is F*cking good for you, Homefire, The Summer Book, Middlesex, and Miss Ex-Yugoslavia.
Plus we really need to discuss the House of Leaves, which is turning into a very long read.
PS. Thanks to the new which-will-not-be-named data legislation, everyone’s been sending emails about the you-know-what and opt ins and privacy policies. We have a privacy policy, it’s on the links on the homepage, no we’re not selling your data to the vote leave people and the unsubcribe button works. You all knew what you were getting yourselves into, but please don’t dob us into the ICO police because once all 6 of them have finished with facebook we don’t have twenty million euros to spare.
