We had a packed meeting to chat about London Falling with some people liking the way the book digressed with lots of backstories, and others preferring the original article. Still I probably won’t look upon those soulless luxury flats in quite the same way ever again.

As it’s spooky season, the book for next time is Dracula by Bram Stoker and we will be meeting in the Effra Social from 7.45 ish on Thursday 29th of October (room booking dependent). There’s also the sexy version available as an audiobook if you want to listen to Jonathan Bailey doing lots of heavy breathing. Listener discretion advised.
Runners up included Katabasis by RF Kuang, Rosemary’s baby by Ira Levin, The Great When by Alan Moore, No Ghosts by Max Lury, The House on Via Gemito by Domenico Starnone, Strange Pictures by Uketsu, The Birds and Other Stories by Daphne du Maurier, and Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe.
Want to support Brixton Book Group? We have a merch store with random book related stuff, including book carrying bags, mugs and t-shirts.
Our meetings are getting very busy right now – everyone is always welcome, but if you feel like starting your own spin off book group (we’ve started at least 4) we can give you a shout out – just drop us a line.
