Flesh

Sally Rooney seems to be an author everyone has an opinion on, but in Brixton Book Group its generally a positive opinion. We had a few misgivings about the ending but overall had a long chat about how she gets into the nitty gritty of family and personal relationships. Also Nelly brought in some excellent Guinness cup cakes.

The book for next time is recent Booker Winner Flesh by David Szalay.

Othe books pitched were:
The Housekeeper and the Professor – Yoko Ogawa
To Rest out Minds and Bodies – Harriet Armstrong
A Flat Place – Noreen Masud
Lincoln in the Bardo – George Saunders
Human Acts – Han Kang

We’ll be meeting in Effra Social on 30th April. Book chat from 8, but come a little early to get a drink and a chair. (Double check nearer the time in case we’ve had to change the date or venue)
